The overall mission of the SCHOOL Collaborative is to accelerate the development and integration of innovative technologies, models and analytics to promote children’s health across the population health spectrum of prevention, health risk management, care coordination and advocacy, disease management and pre- and post-surgical care.
The SCHOOL Collaborative will test the efficacy of health transforming technologies such as phone apps, text messaging, social media, computer games/e-sports, web-based programs, virtual reality and other emerging technologies on population health outcomes.
These outcomes may include health status, health knowledge, self-care, medication management, overall compliance, access and use of regular primary care, links to community referrals, pain management, overall health care utilization, emergency room use, hospitalizations and length of stay, depression, preoperative readiness, readmission, total health care costs and overall patient satisfaction.
To form a SCHOOL Collaborative Steering Committee that will meet monthly, develop proposals and protocols, and implement pilot projects.
To conduct pilot studies leading to publication (establishing a research team) and further grant funding. These baseline studies will set the foundation for interventions and lead to significant external funding.
To submit at least two major grant proposals to a national organization, funding agency, or foundation within a year of launching the SCHOOL Collaborative.
